Investigation of nanofluid mixed convection in a shallow cavity using a two-phase mixture model

چکیده
Laminar and turbulent mixed convection heat transfer of water/Cu nanofluids in a rectangular shallow cavity was studied utilizing a two-phase mixture model. The upper movable lid of the cavity was at a lower temperature compared to the bottom wall. Simulations were performed for Grashof numbers of 105 (laminar flow) and 1010 (turbulent flow) for Richardson numbers from 0.03 to 30, and nanoparticle volume fractions of 0.00e0.04. The two-dimensional governing equations were discretized using a finite volume method. The effects of nanoparticle concentration, shear and buoyancy forces, and turbulence on flow and thermal behavior of nanofluid flow were studied. The model predictions for very low solid volume fraction (4 z 0) were found to be in good agreement with earlier numerical studies for a base fluid. It is shown that for specific Grashof (Gr) and Richardson (Ri) numbers, increasing the volume fraction of nanoparticles enhances the convective heat transfer coefficient and consequently the Nusselt number (Nu) while having a negligible effect on the wall shear stress and the corresponding skin friction factor. 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS. Investigation of the Effect of Nanoparticles Mean Diameter on Turbulent Mixed Convection of a Nanofluid in a Horizontal Curved tube Using a Two Phase Approach
Turbulent mixed convection of a nanofluid (water/Al2O3, Φ=.02) has been studied numerically. Two-phase mixture model has been used to investigate the effects of nanoparticles mean diameter on the flow parameters. Nanoparticles distribution at the tube cross section shows that the particles are uniformly dispersed. The non-uniformity of the particles distribution occurs in the case of large nano...

In this research, effect of nanoparticles dimeter on free convection of aluminum oxide-water was investigated in a cavity by single phase and two phase models. The range of Rayleigh number is considered 105-107 in volume fractions of 0.01 to 0.03 for nanoparticles with various diameters (25, 33, 50 and 100 nm). Given that the two phase nature of nanofluids, necessity of modeling by this method ...

This paper presents results of a numerical study of mixed convection and entropy generation of Cu–water nanofluid in a square ventilating cavity at different inclination angles. Except a piece of bottom wall with a uniform heat flux, all of the cavity walls are insulated. The inlet port is placed at the bottom of the left wall and the outlet port is positioned at the top of the right wall....

Abstract In the present study, the effects of wavy wall’s properties on mixed convection heat transfer of Water-Al2O3 Nanofluid in a lid-driven cavity are investigated using the Lattice Boltzmann Method.
